![]() ![]() I live in ND and it was below zero and it has been extremely cold. While driving on interstate on 2/1/18 my oil light came on so I pulled over a quick as I could and shut off the car. GM is now ignoring my emails and voicemails, asking about getting help. I feel like I should still be taken care of here. I was told that I didn’t need the repair. I have a record of TRYING to get the recall done when it first came out. Of course, I just missed the Special Coverage 16118 Excessive Engine Oil Consumption repair from GM, so they want to charge me $2,200 of the $2,400 that it will take to repair it. I took it in, when I noticed it, to a DIFFERENT Chevrolet dealership and they said that I am FOR SURE consuming excessive oil. Fast forward to today, I burn one quart of oil every 500 miles. I just didn’t experience the problem yet because I had low miles and it didn’t hit at the same time as everyone else. So, I thought that I was one of the lucky folks who did not have the bad rings and pistons. My oil consumption test came back inconclusive. A recall dropped years ago about excessive oil consumption problems with the exact engine that I have. ON THESE VEHICLES, THE LIGHT WILL NOT ILLUMINATE UNTIL THE TIRE PRESSURE IS MORE THAN 25% BELOW THE RECOMMENDED COLD TIRE PRESSURE. THE TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM IS DESIGNED TO ILLUMINATE THE TIRE PRESSURE WARNING LIGHT WHEN THE PRESSURE IN A TIRE IS 25% BELOW THE RECOMMENDED COLD TIRE PRESSURE. ![]() GENERAL MOTORS (GM) IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2012 CHEVROLET EQUINOX AND GMC TERRAIN VEHICLES, MANUFACTURED FROM JULY 18, 2011, THROUGH SEPTEMBER 6, 2011, FOR FAILING TO COMPLY WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NUMBER 138, “TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM” (TPMS).
